Mintable is focused on driving NFT adoption. To accomplish this, they have built a marketplace for creators and end-users of digital collectibles. Their Web3 application makes it easy to trade and mint NFTs in seconds. Since launching in 2018, Mintable has leveraged Blocknative's mempool notifications to provide end-users with reliable and predictable blockchain transactions.
Mintable recently launched V2 of their application. And to celebrate the launch of the next generation of Mintable, we sat down with Zach Burks, Mintable's founder, to learn more about the launch of the new platform.
1. Can you tell us about Mintable?
Burks: Mintable is a marketplace for digital items. You can create, buy, and sell digital items powered by the blockchain on Mintable! These items are called NFTs - non-fungible tokens. They live on the blockchain and are secured by the blockchain itself. This allows for new possibilities, like rare digital art, or global, immutable proof of copyright ownership.
2. You recently launched V2 of the platform. What is new?
Burks: We have rebooted Mintable based on all the feedback from our users since launching in 2018. With V2, we were focused on creating the most user-friendly way to create and trade NFTs. Our new platform features NFT auctions, review and ratings, activity tracking, and minting flexibility. Minting flexibility was one of the most requested product enhancements — including batch minting and the ability to host your NFT art on decentralized storage. V2 was years in the making, and we faced many hurdles to create an easy to use platform. But we are so excited by the response from our community and thankful to all of our partners for helping us to reach this milestone.3. What were some of the challenges you faced developing your next-generation Ethereum application?
Burks: Sure! The largest issue was faced was tracking, managing, and updating transactions as they moved through the mempool. There is a surprising amount of complexity that is present while a transaction is pending — rapid changes in ETH gas fees, transactions becoming stuck, replacement transactions (speed ups or cancels), and more.
Providing users with a crisp view of their transaction status was a critical feature for our team. And we have relied on Blocknative's API to manage this complexity.
By utilizing Blocknative, we are able to dramatically reduce our infrastructure costs while improving our end-user experience. With one API we are able to monitor and manage transactions in real-time. This helps users on Mintable transact with confidence.

4. What new features and functionality has Blocknative's API enabled?
Burks: Mintable uses Blocknative's API to help manage transactions as users mint or trade ERC-721 tokens. Without having a transaction monitoring system like Blocknative, the ability to batch mint 2,000 tokens in a single transaction might not be possible. Our users are highly sensitive to the price of gas, which means that their transactions might take hours — or days — to get confirmed on-chain.
Blocknative enables us to update the status as the transaction moves along its process — this makes the experience smoother for a user.
Transaction notifications have had a huge impact on the usability of Mintable. They ensure our users are in the loop at every stage. Blocknative is easy to use and saved our team from having to operate our own node network. Blocknative is a key partner in Mintable's mission to make crypto-collectibles accessible to the masses.

With the help of Blocknative, Mintable is able to provide a next-generation experience for anyone who is minting or trading NFTs.
5. What's next for Mintable now that V2 is live?
Burks: Our team is focused on launching the Mintable DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). This will be the world's first DAO governed by ERC-721 tokens. Unlike most DAOs, which use an ERC-20, we believe Mintable will be the first DAO that prevents against volatility and encourages voting grounded on community participation.
We are excited to be introducing a new model of governance for the community to experiment with. Any user who makes a transaction on Mintable will automatically be given a DAO NFT in the transaction. We encourage you to try the platform and provide feedback on this new approach to community governance.
Thanks to Zach Burks, founder of Mintable, for sharing his experience of building and scaling one of the leading platforms for digital collectibles. We hope his lessons shed some light on how to build a successful Ethereum application — and we encourage you to go hands-on with Mintable and see Blocknative's Mempool Data Platform in action.
